Like everything else in the COVID era, sustaining an art practice is challenging and precarious. The prospect of focused studio time—one of the silver linings of lockdowns—has been offset by the drought of live exhibition outlets.  Sharing my work in the flesh and discussing it with viewers are sources of inspiration and motivation.  Posting images of artwork on my website will have to suffice until galleries re-open or until it's safe to host another Art Open House.         

In the meantime, I found solace in the challenge of recording an annotated Artist's Talk about my latest work, which is at the intersection of a lifelong commitment to public transport and an enduring fascination with Cartography.  Expanding my technical repertoire to include aluminium and copper plate etching, aquatint and hand-colouring has yielded some surprising and rewarding results.
